If you read the hub’s article, NHL lockout: Lack of respect, mutual mistrust left over from 2005 stoppage, you may have picked up 2 things that I have been saying, [1] Pride/power are issues not on the table, but affecting the lockout . [2] Some players will be getting paid because they are playing in other countries, and some will not, possibly creating a rift in the ranks.
Of these, the pride/power issue is definitely in play right now. For some reason I am thinking of the story of Davy Crockett (1954) – Grinning down a bear – YouTube The owners are sitting there, while the players try to grin them to death. Unfortunately in real life, Davy Crockett is not going to win the world for the players, the bear is going to win.
The bear is just to big to loose, and the players cannot afford to take them on, “bearhanded” so their best bet it to escape loosing as little as possible.
PS don’t get too excited about the Hub post Informal CBA talks expected later today {9-24} Ya gotta read the fine print……..
