The click you heard was probably either the lock being applied to the doors to initiate the lock out, or the light switch being turned off and/or the door being closed. No matter, the ripping sound you may have heard is the hearts being ripped out of millions of NHL fans. The sound you don’t hear is the silence of cash registers not ringing up sales from thousands of businesses who are either supported or partly supported and enhanced by the NHL games and activity.
True there are a few issues which are philosophical as well an monetary, like entry contracts and how long a player must be in the league to become a free agent. There are some points to be made on both sides for these issues. But the bottom line for current players is ” to accept or not accept” approximately a 10% pay reduction. The players are loosing this side of the PR battle. Who of us mortals can identify with a player making 4 Million dollars being cut to 3.6 Million?
Bottom line is ………………………. WE LOOSE!!!!!!!!
