V Prospal resigned- Move has INTERESTING aspects

by Blue Jackets

The Blue Jacket’s extension signing of Vinny Propsal was a surprise to many people. I for one sure am glad it was done, done now and done with class. This should be a win-win-win. How so, you ask, well let me tell you. 1st it’s a win for the player. A 37 year old gets another contract. the second part of this is the player is getting a “gentleman’s agreement” for continued employment after he quits playing.

2nd it’s a win for the Blue Jackets. Vinny has provided veteran leadership, and a lead by example in the dressing room. He has called out team mates for lackadaisical play, but is apparently respected by all. So much so that D Dorsett credits him for changing his own hockey play.  A few days ago, the Jackets owner stated the organization needed more experience in the staff/admin area of the organization. Propsal fits that need, and it puts an experienced hockey person with an obvious love of the game at an entry position.

3rd it’s a win for Columbus. [a] the area of the city of Columbus, just got an “attaboy” . Vinny has played for other teams in other cities and while doing so has visited all 30+ NHL venues, so he’s no nube  AND he and his family LIKE Columbus.        Folks, that”s called an ENDORSEMENT.

[b] He at least has some feelings that the Columbus Blue Jacket organization has hope. Again, he has played for other teams, including twice for Tampa Bay. There are a lot of fans that want to blow up the blue Jacket organization. Maybe they should not be quite so quick to pull the pin. The grenade might not explode in just the way you hope.                                         This too is called an E-N-D-O-R-S-E-M-E -N-T.

If Vinny was half as disillusioned as some of the Blue Jacket fan base, he could have held off, probably been traded later this month, and been gone. From someone with multi team and multi organizational experience, and who is “inside the room” he chose to stay. Think about that!!!!
