Gentle Giant…

Gentle Giant…

Sad, shocking news coming from the Rangers.

Derek Boogaard Talking Hockey With A Tiny Fan (Minnesota Wild photo)

I didn’t know anything about Derek Boogaard.  I know that he was called (affectionately and respectfully) “Boogey-Man.”

This is what touched me about his remarkable life:  The respect others had for him.  The love of community and choice of philanthropy.  That really says plenty about a person.  He created “Boogaards Booguardians” hosting military members and their families at all Ranger home games.  He made it possible for children of military families to be able participate in the sport of hockey.

He obviously loved the game and cared about his community.  He touched lives and people liked him.

He got it right.
